Is confusion the ground?

It seems not

unless, of course

a more subtle confusion is the ground.



Beauty is not at all the ground.

Colour is not at all the ground.

Confusion is not at all the ground.

But beauty be the ground as mystery

colour be the ground as mystery

confusion be the ground as mystery.

Beauty is the colour of radiance

colour is the beauty of radiance

confusion is the ground of radiance

and yet none of these are the ground.

As the lotus blossom opens

and the night lily shuts

so is the ground distinct.
